Georgia O’Keeffe felt that life was moving much to swiftly for most people. They didn’t allow themselves the opportunity to appreciate the many beautiful things around them. This is one reason she painted the flowers so large. Some say she didn’t even like flowers, but painted then because there’re cheaper than models and they didn’t move. I prefer the idea of taking time to enjoy the natural world around us. Therefore, I like to think this lesson allows students to take a second and enjoy the beauty of nature.
