Word sort activity using German loan words "borrowed" from German.
This activity provides German students with an opportunity to build on their background knowledge about the German language during the first week of school or with a substitute teacher. This activity could also be used at any time during the year or in an English/Language Arts classroom to develop English vocabulary (because all the words are also used in English) or a Social Studies/History unit on Germany or Austria Separate pages to sort could also be split into two separate lessons.
17 Pages include the following:
1 page of headers,
2 pages of words to sort
1 sort answer key
7 pages of actual dictionary definitions of words to sort arranged by category
4 pages of "self-assessment" for students to brainstorm the words before doing the sort
1 skeleton lesson plan outline for a substitute
1 how-to page for the downloader/teacher
Cover page and credits/thank-you not included in page count.
I have included some words with very slight spelling variations, and noted the variations between English and German.
