Description

Are your students fascinated by viruses and bacteria? this resource gives students the opportunity to learn some healthy habits, practice reading informational text, and integrate the arts!

Why use Germs: Reading About Viruses and Bacteria? Research tells us that when children include movement or the arts as part of the learning process, they develop a deeper understanding of their learning. This resource encourages children to move, draw, and read for understanding.

How it works: This activity begins with a text for children to read. (available both in color or black and white for easier printing) Depending on the child’s level of reading, it can be read just prior to the activity, or read and discussed ahead of time. (Reading ahead of time is recommended for more challenged readers.) Once the text is read and understood, the activity can begin. The resource gives several options for the activity, including a game of scoot, (directions included) using as a center, or working the questions, brain breaks, and sketching activities as part of reading instruction. This will keep them moving and enjoying learning!

What’s included: This resource includes a complete text describing germs, (available in color or black and white for easier printing) 10 multiple choice text questions, 4 related sketching questions, 6 related brain breaks, instructions, and suggestions for use, answer sheets, and answer keys.
