The following are cards that can be displayed in your classroom through your Dance Unit or a special activity you use for Back to School! There are a total of ten cards: brush teeth, pack backpack, make a new friend, meet teacher, ride the bus, eat lunch, bike to school, tie shoes, skip at recess, walking in the halls.
There are a few ways you can complete this activity. You can have your class in small groups and they work together with a set of the cards to figure out dance movements that would go well with their back to school topic. You could also print enough so each student had one card to work independently. You could then have each symbol show their movements at the same time. (“Everyone who has the “brush your teeth” card, let’s see your dance movements!) Or you can post them around the room where small groups move around to try to create movements for each card, kind of like the game scoot! Do what works best for your kiddos
There is also a reflection at the end of this freebie for students to complete. There is also a BONUS page for your early finishers!
