The following are cards that can be displayed in your classroom through your Dance Unit, a kick-off to your Grade 4 Social Studies, introducing your students to Canada, or a special activity you use for Canada Day! There are a total of seven cards: beaver, hockey player, caribou, Canada goose, Mountie, polar bear, and snowy owl.
Go over each symbol of Canada so that your students understand what each one is before you do the activity. There are a few ways you can complete this activity. You can have your class in small groups and they work together with a set of the cards to figure out dance movements that would go well with their symbol. You could also print enough so each student had one card to work independently. You could then have each symbol show their movements at the same time. (“Everyone who has the beaver card, let’s see your dance movements!) Or you can post them around the room where small groups move around to try to create movements for each card, kind of like the game scoot! Do what works best for your kiddos ☺
There is also a reflection at the end of this freebie for students to complete. There is also a BONUS page for your early finishers! ☺
Thanks so much for checking out the freebie!
