PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Description: This is a picture schedule board called Get Ready for Bed for use in the evening at home. There are four steps on the board, with a START and FINISHED column so the child can move one step at a time. Picture symbols are included for use with the board. Print, laminate, and keep the board in a useful location, such as in the child’s bedroom or on the refrigerator. Check out the morning routine board as well (sold separately or in a combo pack with 3 boards); you can print the morning/evening routines on the same sheet, front and back, for easier access. There are 12 picture symbols included (see the combo pack for 36 symbols) -- NOTE, symbols may be different from those pictured in the product image.

Symbols: Playtime, sleep, snack, dinner, read book, computer time, dad comes home, brush teeth, outside, clean up toys, watch t.v., take a bath

Inspiration: A boy with autism needed more structure in his routines at home. Getting ready for school was a big challenge, so we created the “Get Ready to Go” board to help him step-by-step. After school, there was very little structure in the home, which was difficult since he had a very structured day at school. At home, he would sit on his iPad for hours. The “Welcome Home” board was used to give step-by-step activities to keep him engaged for the rest of the day. Finally, the “Get Ready for Bed” board was used to end his day with a set routine.

Targeted Group: The picture schedule boards are appropriate for typically-developing toddlers and late talkers and children of all ages who have autism or other developmental delays or disabilities. These are designed for use in the home, so parents, caregivers, or therapists can help structure the child’s daily routines outside of the school environment.

Use: Keep the picture symbols in a place that is easy to find and easy to access (Super Duper Inc. sold extra small communication books that worked really well). Keep the boards in a functional location, such as on the wall in the child’s room or in the kitchen. Walk the child step-by-step through the schedule, moving one symbol from START to FINISHED as the child completes each step.

Directions: You will need a color printer with ink, copy paper or cardstock (more sturdy), and a laminator.

• Print the board and symbols in color.
• Laminate the board and symbols.
• Add male and female Velcro pieces to the board/symbols.
