During the first week of school you want to make sure your plans are packed full of engaging activities that will help you set up your expectations for the year. At the same time, you want to get to know your students and help them get to know each other! Get to Know You Scoot does all of this! While participating in this activity, students will partner up at cards placed around the room and discuss the prompt. They decide what they have in common and record it on the recording sheet.
Not only will this activity help students make connections with each other, but it will also give you the opportunity to teach procedures such as engaging in scoot, moving around the room, and finding partners. PLUS, it's a great way to assess the general quality of each of your students' writing abilities and help you get to know students' likes and interests as you assess.
