Get Up and Dance song! This is the Regular version of this resource.
This is a great activity for morning meeting … or a much-needed active break in the middle of a busy school day. As each page depicts a child with colored gloves, you can also provide incidental learning for color recognition/naming. This resource is also great for nurturing the boy/girl distinction and practicing the possessive pronouns (her/his). If you are displaying this resource on the interactive whiteboard, you can use the pen tool to circle the correct girl/boy and her/his concepts before you sing the page. Unsure of the tune … no problem, a kazoo sound track has been provided to serve as the base for group singing.
Customize this resource with photos of your students. First, you need to create a folder of 3” tall photo heads with transparent backgrounds. If you have a good understanding of PowerPoint, customization should be relatively easy. Simply right click on the placeholder face, select the command change picture, then navigate to your student folder and select the photo face you wish to substitute. When a slide/page opens a child’s name will appear at the top. Do NOT delete the xxxxxx placeholder. Simply insert your text cursor in the text box, double click to highlight then ‘type over’ the xxxxxx’s. This ensures that the animations associated with the text will remain intact.
Please visit the Animated Step-by-Steps™ blog for further information re: customization. http://bit.ly/PhotoFaces http://bit.ly/personalizing
This resource is designed for a class size of 10 students. If you have more students, simply duplicate the ‘Who do you want to see dancing? launch page’ and add more ‘student pages’. NOTE: You will, however, need to redo the ‘go to slide’ action links to reflect the added pages.
This resource is especially fun when the adults are also required to get up and ‘shake their booty’!!!!!! It’s all about having fun … while learning a lot!!!
