Quick Easy and Fun!
Use the first day or first week of math class to have students create an all-about-me poster of their "Noteworthy Numbers."
There are over 30 number provoking questions for kids:
How many songs are on your ipod or cell phone?
What is your shoe size?
How many pencils did you bring with you today?
How many times have you seen fireworks?
Take your pulse for one minute. How many times did your heart beat?
Students answer questions independently and then use the "poster paper" to draw themselves in the oval with a web of their "noteworthy numbers" around their pictures.
To elicit more student interest answer these questions yourself, and make a poster to share with kids before they get started.
