English teachers think of "lit" as literature. Our students use the word "lit" when something exciting is happening. So I've brought both worlds together to bring you classic literature paired with contemporary music that your students will recognize.
The following 5-page PDF contains a song pairing for Edgar Allan Poe's "The Cask of Amontillado," "The Tell-Tale Heart," and "Annabel Lee."
Three of the pages provide you with a summary of both text, skills to focus on, and ideas for activities to use with both.
In addition, there are two print and go worksheets that the students can use to analyze both texts. The first worksheet is titled "Compare and Contrast: Classic Literature to Music" and the other is titled "Classic Literature and Song Analysis". These worksheets work perfect as sub plans or as a mini-lesson.
These pairings work well with high school students.
Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy!
