This is a good first week of school activity that can be used with any grade level. Students each get a BINGO sheet, then they must have a classmate (and the teacher!) write their name in a box that applies to them. They cannot write their name in more than one box, just one! It works better if they have more than one thing that applies to them and write their names in different boxes on different sheets so that everyone does not have the exact same card.
Once everyone has had a classmate sign their card, the teacher draws student names and the students use chips to cover the boxes. The first one to get a BINGO is the winner! I also like to call on some of my students to describe boxes they wrote their name in, for example, if they have been out of the country, collect something, etc. It is a simple and fun way to get to know the kids and break the ice a bit!
