Use these cards to help your students get to know you and to help you get to know them.Included in this resource are 48 "Icebreaker Cards". Icebreaker cards assist in the relationship building process, with students, in a non-threatening way. These cards are perfect for whole and small groups in the classroom, counseling and even afterschool settings. Icebreaker cards are a great to use for the start of your school year, when new students move into your classroom, or at the beginning of a new counseling group.
Icebreaker cards are extremely easy and flexible to use either verbally or in written form. These cards can be used in groups, between student partners, or between an adult and student, if in a 1:1 setting. Icebreaker cards can be used as a writing prompt for a journal of the day or week activity. In addition, students can choose several Icebreaker Cards and create an “All About Me” poster by including photos and a brief description to answer each question. Alternatively, students can choose several icebreaker cards and create an “All About Me” book by including a brief answer to answer each question on a separate piece of paper, then attaching the papers together, along with a drawing of him/her for a cover.
Students can purposely choose the card to answer, randomly choose the card, or have an adult or peer choose the card. The possibilities are endless! Students will have fun getting to know more about each other and you will enjoy getting to know more about your students!
