Start the school year or refresh at mid-year with Life in a Frame. This project encourages students to write about themselves via brief descriptions in text boxes, illustrated with childhood photos. Teacher’s notes, a student version of the Proust Questionnaire , a template and a scoring rubric are included.
Students first complete the questionnaire about their likes and dislikes. Using the template, they write briefly about themselves, and then add a pertinent quote and a photo.
This project requires access to computers with word processing. Printed photographs need to be scanned; digital photos need to be transferred via email or memory stick/card.
Completed projects make colorful and imaginative additions to classroom decoration or to notebook/portfolio covers.
Enjoy getting to know your students with this writing project!
