Finally, an exciting, fun way to begin your school year! Students always expect to sit through the rules and procedures on the first few days, then do some routine "getting to know you" activities, but what if you gave your students a way to introduce themselves in a creative way using technology? This activity is also a great way to work on team building with your students.
This photo scavenger hunt is simple, fun, and involves minimal prep. You will need one digital camera (or ipod, ipad, etc) per group, a USB cable or smart cards to upload the photos, and one copy per group. Students can complete the activities outdoors or indoors.
Once students are finished with the activity, simply upload the photos to your computer. You can do this the same day so that they can present immediately, or upload them and present the next day.
Students will present the pictures with their group to the class, introducing themselves as they show the pictures. The pictures will reveal the true personalities - as a teacher, you will learn a lot by seeing their pictures.
This is a way to break the ice and build a spirit of teamwork within the classroom. Your students will ask to do this activity again and again. You could even use this as a staff activity. I hope you enjoy!
