This a great activity that takes about 15-20 minutes to complete, allowing time for sharing, as well as going over the classroom rules and procedures beforehand. The first worksheet in this packet is for grades 3-5 since it involves more writing, although, depending on the students, could probably be used with grade 2 as well. The second worksheet is for grades K & 1 and can be elaborated upon—you could ask students to draw themselves doing their favorite summer activity, in their favorite place, with their favorite people, etc. Once the students complete this activity, we go around the room and share what we wrote and/or drew. It’s a great ice breaker and short activity for the first day of art!
