This is a simple 3-2-1 activity that students take home for their parents to fill out. It helps me to learn a little about the students from the parents' perspective and lets the parents know that I care about their children as well. I call it "Parent Homework" and assign it on the first day of class, and I give "bonus points" to students when they bring it back. I have the parents answer: 3 adjectives that describe your child, 2 things that your child does well, and 1 thing your child needs in order to be successful at school. I use this with my 8th grade language arts classes, but it works equally well for any age group or any content class as a getting to know you activity.
