Students will read the Gettysburg Address three times focusing on learning vocabulary in context, highlighting evidence, identifying main idea, and responding to text-dependent questions.

In order to ensure understanding of the speech, the text-based questions are broken down by paragraph and guide students through the major points of Lincoln’s message.
Summary Writing Activity:
The summary writing activity breaks Lincoln's speech into four parts, which allows for multiple levels of instruction and assessment (is: whole class, partner, individual).
