Product Description
In Through Teen Eyes' Gettysburg Map Project, students can trace the activities of two teens caught in the Battle of Gettysburg during the American Civil War. Tillie Pierce, a 15-year-old student, fled the Confederate army south to a neighbor's farm only to find herself under fire near Little Round Top. She helped in a field hospital and saw limbs amputated. Daniel Skelly, an 18-year-old clerk, spent time in the observation platform of his store with both Confederate and Union generals, depending on who held the town. He also sheltered with family and friends in a neighbor's cellar during the heavy fighting. Using the maps provided in this package, your students can follow the paths Tillie and Daniel took during the three days of the battle. Daniel also heard Lincoln deliver his famous address on November 18, 1863.
