Have fun learning about gravity using twirlycopters! Materials required: paper and a paperclip. There are 2 patterns: long and thin twirlycopter and a short, wide twirlycopter. When your students hold them high above their heads and release them, they will rapidly spin to the ground like little helicopters. Your students will love these!! Use these to discuss the force of gravity.
Included in packet:
-pattern for long, thin twirlycopter and pattern for short, wide twirlycopter - (one goes faster than the other) color and black and white included with Halloween ghost pictures
-step-by-step directions with photographs
-explanation as to how they work
-student worksheet - predict which will fall the fastest, then test and record results
-student worksheet on gravity - 2 questions (what is the name of the force and what would happen with these on a spaceship)
-student worksheet: chart to record descent time
I teach PK - 4, all of my students have made these but I tailor the lesson for each grade level. I do not use the chart for my PK and K students but I use it for all other grade levels. Kids love these! I hope your students enjoy!
