As music teacher, one of my main goals is to develop strong, successful readers.
This giant printable grand staff is a wonderful resource to help your students become better readers and better musicians. The large size allows the student to better see and physically feel the spacing on the staff, as they manipulate the notes. This resource has been great for my kinesthetic and visual learners, as well as students with learning delays. In addition to drilling the staff notes, this board is perfect for spelling intervals and chords, building key signatures, or transcribing melodies.
This set includes a landscape Treble and Bass Clef, that are designed to be taped together to form an entire Grand Staff. Unlike other staffs that take up your whole studio or classroom, it can then be folded in half and stored as easily as a sheet of paper. The landscape orientation gives you enough room to build multiple intervals, compose short melodies, spell out key signatures, etc. Also included is a blank staff, perfect for orienting your beginners on lines and spaces with out the complication of a staff.
This set includes-
Blank Clef- just lines and spaces
Whole, Half, Quarter, Eighth, and Sixteenth Notes
Seven Sharps and Seven Flats- perfect for spelling key signatures
Printable Treble and Bass Clef signs to use with the blank clef
I have also designed sets of Alphabet, Interval, and Key Signature Cards to coordinate with this resource.
Grand Staff Review- Use a set of alphabet cards to drill the notes on the staff . Start off with both players on the Middle C, then draw a card and move to that note on the staff. The first one to draw the “Middle C, You Win” card wins the game.
Intervals- Use a set of interval cards to drill the distance between notes on the staff. Start off with both players on Middle C, then draw a card and make that interval with your notes. On your second turn, build the interval off of the top note. The first one to draw the “You Win” card wins the game.
Composing- roll a dice and then pull that number of alphabet cards out of a box/bag. Create a short melody by arranging the letters into a fun song!
Key Signatures- Use a set of Key Signature Cards (click here for some options) to drill the amount of sharps and flats in each key signature. Draw a card and spell that key signature with your sharps and flats. The first one to draw the “C Major” card wins the game.
