“That’s me! That’s me too!” a gifted second grader states in response to two successive scenarios regarding “Knowing Yourself.”
“That really happened to me,” a sixth grader confides after working through a “Peer Pressure” incident.
My book, Acting UP! Incomplete Skits that Address the Social and Emotional Issues of Gifted Students was designed to help gifted children expand social skills, improve leadership skills, and develop a better understanding of self, peer relations, task commitment and humanity. The skits in this book are presented in an easy-to-read, conversational style using real-world examples that teach students how to recognize, monitor, and adjust their behavior. As a gifted specialist in a K-12 school, I have used these skits with students in grades two through six with positive results.
Whether in a character education group or a classroom setting, these skits help make tackling difficult social and emotional issues non-threatening and fun. Acting Up! Is guaranteed to make a positive impact on the lives of gifted children.
