Read, Read, As Fast As You Can!
These Snap! games inspired by The Gingerbread Man story will be a fun way for your students to practice their sight words. This will make a great small group activity or station for reading workshop.
How To Play:
Stack the cards face down. The first player takes the card on the top of the stack. If he can read it, he keeps it. If he can’t read it, it is returned to the bottom of the pile and play continues with the next player. If a player draws a Snap! card, he must put ALL of his cards back in the stack. The player with the most cards at the end of the game is the winner.
Alternative: Add a die to this game. The number that the player rolls determines how many cards he will take off the top of the stack.
Teacher prep is simple - just print, laminate, and cut on the straight lines. To help keep the game pieces organized, the first 100 word cards are on gingerbread boy cards and the second 100 words are on gingerbread girl cards. That way, you can have students on different reading levels playing simultaneously.
