Gingerbread Addition & Subtraction - Winter Math Center Number Line Activities

- PDF

Description
Do you teach a gingerbread theme in December? Here's a gingerbread math center game for kindergarten and first grade addition and subtraction on the number line. These winter activities will give your little learners the practice they need for successfully using this important tool for adding and subtracting by moving up and moving back.
To play Gingerbread Fun, your students will read a card and follow the directions to move up or move back on their own number line. Then they'll use a wipe-off marker to make an X on the number they land on. { Sample clue card: “Start on 11. Go back 7. Catch me now!” } The first player to have 5 Xs in a row wins!
Here's what's included in this set:
⭐ 135 themed clue cards for addition and subtraction, with expressions for sums and differences of zero through fifteen.
⭐ Gingerbread -themed number lines at two levels of support - makes differentiation easy!
⭐ Large number cards to build a walk-on (or jump-on!) number line to solve the clues. They're a great way to add more movement and improve learning!
⭐ A cut-and-glue practice/assessment page with answer key
⭐ An easy-prep one-page board game that uses the same cards
Game assembly is simple: print on cardstock, cut apart, and laminate for durability. There's even a label for your storage container!
Ideal for your math centers or math tubs. Try this activity with a small group to do some up-close monitoring of your students' ability to start on the correct number, count "hops" accurately, and match hops/counts one-to-one.
