This package includes 11 gingerbread baby cut-outs with poems and clues leading the class on a school wide scavenger hunt! What a perfect way to start off the school year, by taking a school tour and searching for that silly little gingerbread baby at the same time! I usually start off the lesson with “Gingerbread Baby” by Jan Brett. At the end of the story on the last page, I tape in the first gingerbread cut-out with the classroom clue. I then read this to the class and we start the scavenger hunt around the school looking for that mischievous gingerbread baby! Read each clue aloud to the class and then it will ask them to think of another destination in the school to go look for the gingerbread baby. Each clue leads to the next and takes the kids through the: bathrooms, staff room, office, boot room, music room, art room, special-ed room, library, gymnasium and ends off back at our classroom!
This can be a great thematic unit to start off the year with gingerbread puzzles, mazes, crafts, decorations, puppets and so much more! As an added BONUS there is a delicious smelling cinnamon gingerbread baby decoration recipe included!
