PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

In this pack you will get a total of 5 adorable, gingerbread-themed literacy games focused on the Pre-K/Kindergarten skills of upper and lowercase letter identification, letter sounds, beginning sound isolation, sight words, color words, and reading simple, predictable text. These engaging games will get your kinder students working independently and successfully during your center rotations! I have included a description of implementation for each game on the next slides.
Please read on for directions to the following literacy games:

Gingerbread Land
Gumdrop Letter Match
Gingerbread Man Beginning Sounds
Gumdrop Colors Emergent Reader
Gumdrop Sentences

Gingerbread Land
*What you’ll need: Laminated Game Board, dice, and small game pieces such as counters, seasonal erasers, etc.
*How to Play: Two variations are included. Please print the board containing the skills you want your students to work on (sight words or letter identification/sounds). Or, you can print both and put them at different centers! Students will place their game piece on the gingerbread cookie. They will roll the dice and move their game piece that many spaces. When they land on their space, they must say the sight word or name the letter/sound. They will follow the spaces around the board to get to the gingerbread house at the end!

Gumdrop Letter Match
*What you’ll need: Laminated gumdrop letters cut apart, copies of recording sheet, crayons
*How to Play: Students will take turns selecting a colorful gumdrop uppercase letter card. They will find the matching lowercase letter gumdrop on their recording sheet and color it.

Gingerbread Man Beginning Sounds
*What you’ll need: Laminated gingerbread men cut apart, recording sheet, crayons
*How to Play: Students will take turns selecting a gingerbread man picture card. They will name the picture and isolate the beginning sound/letter in the word. They will find the matching letter on their recording sheet and color it.

Gumdrop Colors Emergent Reader
*What you’ll need: Emergent reader pages cut apart and assembled/stapled into books
*How to Play: This reader is perfect for your guided reading groups. Your students can read the book together in their group, partner read, or read aloud independently. I would suggest having students underline or circle the color word on each page. Then, have students color the gumdrop on each page to match!

Gumdrop Sentences
*What you’ll need: Pocket chart words cut apart and laminated, pocket chart, recording sheet
*How to Play: Students will assemble the pocket chart words to form color word sentences (for example, “I like the red gumdrop.”) After placing the words in order to form the sentence, they will record the color word to complete the sentence on their recording sheet and color the gumdrop to match!
