Lots to do! Fun winter/holiday themed activities for your class. =)
2 games with several ideas on how to differentiate, 2 writing prompts, and a 3 day lesson plan for "The Gingerbread Man" and "The Gingerbread Baby" with activities.
More detailed description of contents:
40 sight word cards, 52 uppercase and lowercase cards, and 4 "lose a turn" cards to play a sight word or alphabet game with your students whole group or during centers.
How to play: place cards face down and have students select a card one at a time. If they can read the word, read the letter, or make the letter sound (differentiate) then they can keep that card. Watch out for the gingerbread cookies that get stuck in the jar! That means a turn is lost! =) Whoever has the most at the end, wins. You can also use the ABC gingerbread cookies to match upper and lowercase letters in a pocket chart.
Also, 56 small sugar cookie letter cards for matching or building! One way to use them is to choose a gingerbread sight word card, and use the sugar cookies to build that word. They can also be matched in a pocket chart.
There is a recording sheet for students to write the sight words they build, or the sight words they won during the game.
Sight Word Roll - Help the gingerbread get back to the house! Roll a dice, and move a counter to a gingerbread square. If you can read the sight word, stay there! If you cannot, go back and the next person has a turn. First person to get the gingerbread man to his house safely is the winner!
Two writing prompts - Wish list and a winter-themed paper. Ideas for writing : "If it snowed in Florida .." "If my snowman came alive.." "On a snow day I would .."
Gingerbread Man/Gingerbread Baby Comparison - Student venn diagram, student story map, Headers and cut-outs to create a class graph.
