This Gingerbread Man multi book study includes 2-3 weeks of gingerbread activities, printables, literacy centers, and crafts for comparing and analyzing favorite versions of The Gingerbread Man. Don’t have gingerbread man books? Don’t worry! I’ve included a media guide with video links to read alouds online for all of the version used. Plus, many of the response pages can be used with any books you have available.
The 9-lesson teaching PowerPoint introduces brief, comprehension mini lessons with meaningful (and fun!) response activities and interactive anchor charts for students to determine the central message, use illustrations to understand a character, infer character traits, understand why an author uses repetition, compare story elements, and how character’s respond to challenges. There is so much in this unit and it's one of my very favorites to teach! I use it for the whole month of December, but it is designed to be flexible so that you can choose how to use it that best suits your schedule.
Carefully aligned to grades 1-3 addressing multiple RL, language, and writing standards, students dive deep into all parts of the books as they compare favorite versions of The Gingerbread Man. I’ve even included math integration in a bonus gingerbread graphing project. The easy gingerbread house unit folder keeps your students organized as they learn. With this unit, you’re all set for your reading, language, and writing blocks, plus your literacy centers. Planning for December has never been easier!
This unit is loaded with creative, academic, and most of all FUN activities, so please see the preview for full details. Your download will include a ZIP file with 3 separate files.
