A glyph conveys information in picture form. With this resource, students will express their thoughts about gingerbread with a craft. The Gingerbread Man glyph can be used as part of a Christmas or holiday unit, or just as a fun festive seasonal activity (It does not mention any particular holiday).
Ask students to complete the Gingerbread Man Glyph Survey and use their answers to cut out and color the appropriate pieces for their Gingerbread Man.
Direct students to cut out the correct Gingerbread Man parts using their survey results as a guide. You may choose to have your students draw their faces or cut them out.
Once the Gingerbread Men are assembled, invite students to interpret the glyphs together. They can tally, count, and graph the results on their Data Sheets. Model how to create a bar graph so they can design their own using the class glyphs.
Included in this resource is a writing prompt encouraging students to write a short essay about where the missing Gingerbread Man went and how to find him.
All sheets are available in both color and black and white.
