This is a large gingerbread man that I drew and added math practice for my 2nd graders. I've done this gingerbread man in different grades with different types of review problems and the kids have always enjoyed doing it. Now, I have siblings asking when they get to do the gingerbread man so as I change grades I have to update my gingerbread man. He has 6 pages of math practice that come together to make his arms, legs, and hat. His belly and thighs (4 pages) create writing paper for a holiday writing assignments. I have left his face (2 pages) free of academic practice so the kids can color freely.
I suggest you create a sample to hang as you begin the unit to build excitement and to familiarize yourself with how the pieces go together. I do this over several days and we partially assemble pieces as we go and then put the entire gingerbread man together and color it a day or two before the winter break when they are getting exited and have difficulty sitting still. They love to lay on the floor and color their very own gingerbread man. I hope you enjoy him.
