On the first day of school, I read the book, The Gingerbread Man Loose in the School. On the last page of the book, I attach the first clue (printed and cut out on cardstock). I act all surprised and have a student read the clue. We then run (or carefully walk very excitedly!) around the building finding and solving all the clues (which I have previously hidden). I coordinate with our school secretary(or anyone else who can help) to come in and leave a snack of gingerbread cookies, or something similar, on each student's desk.
Clues include the following rooms: front office, cafeteria, bathroom, library, teacher's lounge, art room, gym, music, and back to classroom.
Each clue is numbered to help you keep them in order. Here is where each clue leads to:
Clue 1- leads to front office
Clue 2- leads to the cafeteria
Clue 3- leads to the bathroom
Clue 4- leads to the library
Clue 4- leads to the teacher's lounge (or wherever you eat lunch)
Clue 4- leads to the art room
Clue 4- leads to the gym
Clue 4- leads to the music room
Clue 4- leads back to the classroom, where a treat should be waiting
There are 2 options in this file for you to choose from. Same clues, just different layout. Keep scrolling down to see both options. There are also some blank templates in case you want to add any clues.
This can also be used at Christmas time in the same way!
