Ten-Frame Flash with the Gingerbread Men!
This set of no-prep charts are included in my series of “Getting to the Heart of it Charts”
. These kinds of anchor charts help children begin to deeply understand the meaning of whatever math concept is being taught, in this case, recognizing the quantity of a number spoken verbally.
Visual representations of numbers are powerful ways to help students’ recognize the quantity of small groups of objects without counting them (subitize). Subitizing is an important foundational skill that prepares children for success in all future mathematics learning!
The “Ten-Frame Flash with the Gingerbread Men!”
packet includes 8½” X 11” ten-frame cards (2 sets from which to choose: black/white and multi-color), as well as strategies for implementation and sample questions to use with the students to develop a solid base for learning number quantity and determining student level of understanding. This game is meant to be fast paced and quick so have the cards ready to use whenever you have little time slots (like lining up and waiting!). Students enjoy sharing their thinking about what they see and how they figured it out! Ideas for questioning strategies are included!
