After reading several different versions of the gingerbread man, have students create their own stories!
This activity is typically done at the point in the school year were students might still be struggling with writing, are at the beginning stages of retelling, and/or coming up with ideas independently.
This organizers helps students to focus on how they want to write their story.
They are to pick a main character, choose characters that the main character is running from, and then pick how the story will end. The purpose of this is to focus on the differences between the gingerbread stories and how we can mix it up and create a new story. Students will use this organizer to write and create a new story that can be shared during an Author's circle or used to show evidence of how they go through the writing process.
