I originally created this game to help my kindergarteners with the concept of addition, but I quickly realized it could be tweaked to be used for all grade levels. In this game, students will use addition, subtraction, or multiplication to decorate their gingerbread man.
Once you choose an operation for your students, they will take turns rolling two die and finding the solution. They will then use the instruction card to either add decorations to their gingerbread man, take some off or even steal from another player. Students only use the last digit in their solution to find their instructions on the instruction card so they are also learning about place value!
You will need to print one gingerbread man for each student. (I print mine on brown construction paper.) You will also need decorations for your gingerbread men such as pom-poms, buttons, small pieces of paper, or even gumdrops or other small candies! Place these in the middle of the table for students to choose from on their turn.
Students play for a set amount of time, and the winner is the player with the most decorations at the end of the game.
