Gingerbread Squeeze Game
Skill: recognize, compare and order numbers 0-115
Vocabulary: number, number line, big, bigger, small, smaller, more, less, high, low
Assemble: cut out the number line and adhere to construction paper. In my district, my Kinder kids are expected to know 0-10 (Q1), 0-31 (Q2), 0-71 (Q3), and 0-115 (Q4). I have these numbers on different colors of construction paper. Cut out the turkeys and glue to construction paper. I would laminate all of the pieces.
How to play: Place the gingerbread facing each other at the end of your number line. You could start out with 0-10 to teach the game, and then differentiate as needed after they know how to play. So, you would place the gingerbread at 0 and 10. Say, "I am thinking of a number between 0 and 10." Children take turns guessing the number. If their number is too big, then say "Your number is too big/too high." Now, move the gingerbread on the right, to cover the number that they just said. If their number is too low, then say "Your number is too small/too low." Now, move the gingerbread on the left, to cover the number that they just said. Keep repeating until you "squeeze" the correct number! When someone guesses the correct number, then yell out "GINGERBREAD SQUEEZE!" You could also use real objects for the squeeze (gingerbread erasers, etc)
