This resource has all you will need to target speech and language goals while reading "Gingerbread Pirates". Includes:
Pages 3-4: Game board
Pages 5-6: Sequencing cards (12) and sorting mat. Sequence events of the story. Use velcro to adhere the pictures in the correct order.
Pages 7-8: Comprehension questions (12 questions plus cover card). Each question contains 3 answer choices, presented visually and in words.
Pages 8-9: Vocabulary cards (13 words plus a cover card). Use these cards to discuss vocabulary associated with the book, ask and answer questions, and more!
Page 10: Regular plurals (9). Cut on solid lines only. Each card has two sides - the left side has a singular noun pictured and the right has the plural.
Pages 11-13: Simple sentence formulation. 24 cards targeting pronouns, present progressive verbs, subject/verb agreement, subject-verb and subject-verb-object sentence formulation, and is/are. Words are included above the picture prompt.
Pages 14-16: Basic Concepts: Big & Little. 23 Cards and a cover card. Sort the holiday items in to the correct stocking. Stockings include visual symbols.
Page 17: Basic Concepts: Tall & Short. 8 cards plus a cover card
Pages 18-20: Basic Concepts: Location. 12 visuals representing 6 different common prepositions relative to 2 different objects. Describe where the Captain is in relation to the pirate ship and the treasure chest. Two different interactive sentence strips are included. Students need to choose the correct preposition and place it into the correct sentence. ***On page 19, cut on the horizontal lines ONLY (for the top 2 lines) to make sentence strips. Use Velcro to affix prepositions. Multiple versions of commonly used prepositions are included (eg. under & below).
Page 21: Yes/No Questions (8). Answer yes/no questions about the book and holiday/pirate topics. Visuals are included.
Pages 22-24: Sequencing - How to bake a gingerbread man. Two versions - draw or write your own steps or sort the visuals given.
Pages 25-26: Barrier game. Use the vocabulary from the book to target a variety of speech and language targets. Print one of each page per player. One scene is included plus 21 objects to manipulate.
Pages 27-28: Sort the pictures into the correct stocking: things that go with a gingerbread man or with a pirate.
Page 29: Venn Diagram: Compare and contrast gingerbread men, pirates, and a gingerbread pirate. Visuals included.
