Every year my fourth graders get to write their own gingerbread stories. I read aloud several versions of gingerbread stories and we discuss the similar elements: the gingerbread character is baked, escapes, and leads his predators on a WILD CHASE!
After reading a few stories, the kids begin to plan and draft their own version. I have had kiddos write about all sorts of characters such as: the gingerbread lion, the gingerbread twins, the gingerbread elf, the gingerbread newscaster, etc.
I created this HANDY and HELPFUL step by step guide for the kids and myself to help keep track of what is expected on each page. It makes the writing easier and grading a piece of cake! Enjoy!
