FORMULA FOR SUCCESS. Teaching students to respond to their reading using evidence is crucial! This formula is like a recipe students can follow to produce clear, detailed responses for any type of reading or writing prompt. You can use it in a variety of ways in any subject - ELA, Social Studies, Science, AND Math!
This is a GREAT tool to use as a paragraph writing template. Students must TTQA (turn the question around) as their topic sentence. They provide at least 2 details from the passage/selection or text and give direct evidence siting paragraph number and using quotations. A clincher is also required.
Visual, spatial, and kinesthetic learners will appreciate the separate spaces for each part.
Common Core standard: 5.RL.1: Students must quote accurately from a text when explaining what the text says explicitly and when drawing inferences from the text.
