This is a useful visual which can provide feedback to a child about how well they are listening.
It focuses on 5 areas: Eyes Looking, Ears Listening, Mouth is Quiet, Hands in Lap, Feet are Not Moving - "Criss-Cross Applesauce"
As a child demonstrates success at one of these areas, move the check mark from the bottom (green boxes) up to the white boxes. Giving them positive feedback about one of these areas will often remind them to do all 5 things.
When used consistently by teachers, I have seen this visual make a huge difference in carpet-time behaviors in a kindergarten classroom. It could also be used during smaller group activities or activities which are not routine (e.g., an assembly).
