Giving Up is Not What's Up: Suicide Prevention and Coping Skills SEL Guide.

Description
The CDC reported that suicide was the second leading cause of death for people ages 10-14 and 25-34 (CDC, 2022). These numbers have risen dramatically since the pandemic of 2020. Virtual learning, lockdowns, grief, loss, and illness associated with the current pandemic have been devastating. In a world that is focused on one crisis after the next, our children need to choose life and hope.
Giving Up is Not What's Up is a guided lesson on how children can choose coping skills, life, and hope instead of self-harm or suicide. Children will discuss a scenario, discuss coping skills, identify their feelings and complete a contract affirming that their life matters. (No examples of suicide or self-harm are part of this lesson)
