Product Description
This assignment asks students to visit three websites, as well as find their own sources for new information regarding issues of global food security. I use this in my Global Issues course, but it could be adapted for both Social Studies and Science.

This assignment has 4 sections that students research.

Pt. 1: Definitions and Causes: Students identify food security (high, marginal, low, very low), as well as research causes for food insecurity. (links provided to appropriate websites with clear and accurate information)

Pt. 2: Students research ONE country to determine their level of food security (no link provided as they are all picking different countries to research, usually I suggest they use CultureGrams)

Pt. 3: Students find 3 Current Event articles online regarding food security in the country that they selected for Part 2, they record the source information and summarize the article in their own words.

Pt. 4: Students analyze the most recent "Hunger Map" from the World Food Program (2015), and analyze which countries and regions of the world have high levels of undernourishment, compared to countries and regions with low levels of undernourishment

*Answer key is not included as students will be finding different information for much of their individual research, however, if you have questions regarding any portion of the assignment, please feel free to contact me for clarification.
