10 short answer questions that I administer on exam day for Unit 22 based on the French and Latin American Revolutions. Students must answer 5 out of 10 short response questions as part 2 of the quiz (Part 1 of the quiz is one double-sided page of multiple choice questions. The link for that resource is:
The multiple choice section of the exam counts for 75 points, and my short answer section counts for 50 maximum points (5 points per question). Student must earn at least 25 collective points on Part 2 in order to be eligible to earn a 100%. Many of my students complete more than 5 questions to earn extra credit. The highest possible grade on my exams is 125%.
I also allow certain students to complete the Part 2 short answers using their class notes. For this, I deduct 10% from their final test grade. Many students prefer this option, which I do not mind because it forces students to value their own class notes. Some students may complete Part 2 as homework, with teacher permission.
Students may not use their notes on the multiple choice section, which must also be completed in class, not at home.
