Product Description
Excellent Resource for test taking strategies for the New York State Global History Regents Examination and Social Studies Assessments in the classroom.

The Multiple Choice Strategy is a fun acronym from the song RUDE by magic. This acronym is easy for students to remember as they approach the regents examination. This strategy can be modeled in the front of the classroom. As students become for familiar with the acronym, you can solicit a think aloud with the students and practice sample questions. You can also invite students in the front of the room to practice the strategy in the front of the classroom and the student can walk through their thought process of how they used they strategy.

The New York State Global History Regents has two important essays. The Thematic Essay as well as the Document Based Essay. The worksheet I provide includes visuals to draw students attention to the important key words found in the task and to become familiar as to what the question is asking. In addition, there is another great acronym called ICE in which students can "ICE" the documents. This acronym is helpful for students as they need to be familiar with the important concepts of a DBQ such as the topic sentence, citing evidence, outside information and explaining the document.

As students write essays and read passages, they often are required to discuss the political, social and economic aspects of a particular topic. For example, what were the political and social causes of the French Revolution. In some cases, students forget what political, social and economic mean and as a result, I have a great differentiated graphic organized that provides definitions of each of those terms, visuals and historical examples. Great tool for ESL students as well as students with IEPS. Its a tool that students can refer to throughout the school year as a reference and self monitoring tool as they complete classwork.
