I developed this lesson as the twelfth in a series for a survey-style Global History course for summer school that was intended to assist students in succeeding at the August Regents. Through the lens of the question, "Where would be we without the Renaissance?", students are introduced to the major causes and effects of the European Renaissance and challenged to analyze various works of art and hypothesize about their cultural origins. The PowerPoint and lesson plan are attached, including a graphic organizer for the causes and effects of the Renaissance. There are DBQs and reading excerpts that are not included due to copyright laws, but these can be replaced or subtracted from the lesson at the teacher's discretion. An alternative 'Do Now' is provided in the Ppt.
