This is a two page document addressing global organization in writing. After working directly with a woman who scares standardized TDAs, I learned that scorers are looking for global organization, or details that are put in order for a specific reason. This document introduces students to one mode of global organization, which is order of importance.
How I used this product:
I walked students through the first page of the document as a whole group. We stopped to reflect on our previous learning of thesis statements. Students then practiced using the transition phrases in their own writing on the second page.
