This project was originally designed to be used in a Human Geography course as a summative final project. After re-working this project, I have found that it works just as well as a final project for my Ethnic Studies Courses as well. This project utilizes the information found on the CIA World Factbook website, virtually making this a project for any global nation.
This project sets up 11 checkpoints allowing students to effectively pace and complete work as you, the teacher set out for them. Checkpoints range from answering questions, to reminding students to include images/maps to seeking a works cited. Some of the checkpoints focus on the following: History and Government, Energy Uses, People and Society, Current Issues, Military, Economy, and Communication (just to name a few).
This project comes complete with a rubric (that could be modified up or down - depending on what points structure you are currently using) as well as a list of Asian nations to choose from. Please note that the nations listed are nations that we did not spend much time investigating or previously researching, as you will see additional nations could be easily added.
In addition to the check points and rubric, this project comes with a partner option as well. Checkpoint 12 focuses on one additional task that must be completed if this project were to be completed with a partner. Additionally, a partner rubric has also been designed to accommodate the "partner" option.
This project is designed to last roughly 2 full weeks - and as mentioned above will be used as a summative project/final project for my high school ethnic studies courses at this time, though again would make for a nice human geography final project as well.
