Character Analysis, Procedural Text, and Sequencing through "Gloria, Who Might Be My Friend" in Journeys second grade
*All activities are differentiated for multiple levels of learning*
* character analysis- Students will analyze Julian and Gloria in the beginning, middle, and end of the story, and compare themselves to the characters through a Venn Diagram or character map
* sequencing events- Students will put 11 events from the story in order by cutting and pasting sentence strips OR cutting and pasting 8 events onto construction paper and illustrating the event.
* procedural text for making a kite- Students can write the materials and steps to make a kite in their own language OR they can cut and paste the steps in the correct order.
* writing prompts to make a connection to the text- Students can write about how Julian and Gloria changed throughout the story. They can also write about how they are similar and different from Julian and Gloria.
