Students will use this MSWord template to create a glossary of basic computer terms. This document has a chart with 32 terms that I have found students struggle to remember. The terms cover the tools of MSWord and navigating the desktop and internet. Some examples are: Print Preview, Center Align, Double Space, Icons, URL, tabs, etc. There is also picture-bank so they can have an image to go along with the term and definition.
I designed this glossary where the students must generate the definition for the terms; however, I am providing you with several student examples. You could use these samples to create a definition-bank if you prefer. I also include instructions for adding terms if you would like to add anything that I do not have on the existing list.
After completing the glossary, the students have a foundational understanding and resource for the basics of working on the computer. It has helped my classes tremendously as we share a common language of the discipline.
