"Go Elf" is a short e vowel game concentrating on the short
e patterns “ea” as in leather and “e” as in elf.
It includes 2 sets of cards for differentiation: 1 set of short e picture cards representing short e as [(ea) leather] and [(e) elf] with words and 1 set of short e picture cards representing short e
as [(ea) leather] and [(e)elf] without words to make it more difficult.
How to play:
Like Go Fish, 2-4 players can play at a time. Each player is dealt 5 cards, and the remaining cards are left in a pile face down. Each player takes a turn and asks the next player if they have a card that they need. For example, “Suzie, do you have the word treasure with short e pattern ‘ea’?” or "Suzie, do you have the word elf with the short e pattern 'e'?" If the player has the card, he/she must give it to the person asking. If they don’t, they say, “Go Elf!” and the player draws one card from the deck. Each time a player gets a matching pair of cards they put them down, but they have to state weather it is the short (ea) or (e) vowel pattern. The first player that is out of cards is the winner!
Print on cardstock, laminate and cut for years of use.
