As your students start to learn long vowel patterns, one of the first ones they will learn is /oa/. To help them learn, use this independent phonics center based on the game "Go, Fish!" to give them practice decoding words with oa, differentiating between short o and long o, and spelling words with the oa pattern.
This zip file includes a sheet of instructions, 36 playing cards, and a recording sheet. The instructions include pictures to aid non-readers. If students fill out the recording sheet, it will hold them accountable to what they are practicing and make it easy for you to check mastery. And best of all, since most students already know how to play "Go Fish," it will be easy for them to start playing right away!
