This set of 24 task cards was developed to support your students understanding of 2 and 3 dimensional shapes along with equal parts in an introduction to fractions. The cards are geared toward the Go Math 2nd grade curriculum but can be used more broadly since they are geared toward 2nd grade common core math. An answer sheet and answer key are provided for your use. There is also a template for a packet that you can cut and staple or glue together for storage of the cards.

Partition circles and rectangles into two, three, or four equal shares, describe the shares using the words halves, thirds, half of, a third of, etc., and describe the whole as two halves, three thirds, four fourths. Recognize that equal shares of identical wholes need not have the same shape.
Partition a rectangle into rows and columns of same-size squares and count to find the total number of them.
Recognize and draw shapes having specified attributes, such as a given number of angles or a given number of equal faces. Identify triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, and cubes.
